Music
i realized a long time ago that i really don’t have my own opinions on music. whatever anyone wanted to listen to i usually liked so it was no big deal. or with **** it didn’t matter we’d listen to what he’d like. and sometimes i really started to enjoy the music and sometimes i thought my ears were about it fall off, and whats more is that i wanted them to. so now in my forced independence i have become aware that i need to have my own musical tastes. of course this is not an easy feat for anyone. i mean, i know what i like and what i don’t. but, i mean, their is so much out there! but i’m starting with the old rock. i’ve soaked so much of it up and have slowly fallen in love with it. though sometimes its hard to figure out if i like it for the memories (although at this point their is a whole slew of music that i can’t listen to for the memories) or if its generally the music in and of itself. and then their are so many bands out their that the world labels as “awesome” and everyone knows the titles and you just have to pretend that they are the be-all-end-all though you’ve never listened to them. hence the reason i’m starting with the basics. here are some of my finds:
i love pearl jam
mellow male singers like jack johnson and john legend are the shit
i’m still a huge friggin fan of dave matthews
i’m falling hard for led zeppelin (although, as stated above, i’m not sure if this is memories sake or music sake. i’m giving it my all to listen to the songs that “we” never listened to so that this can just be my thing. i love the immigrant song.)
i don’t get that whole miley cyrus crap.
that one song “i kissed a girl and i liked it” that’s a big hit this summer–it gives me the whillies. Other things that give me the whillies: my friend ***** in anything more of a friend relationship (but thats a long and complicated story) and snakes.
i like old guys like stevie wonder, earth wind and fire, billy joel (but i’ve always loved him), elton john
got some lovin for stevie nicks and fleetwood mac
my next ventures include janis joplin, the doors, and jimi hendrix. Forever 27 Club.
any suggestions?
